October 25 Worship

What does it truly mean to be the body of Christ? On this Reformation Sunday, we are confronted with a question that cuts to the heart of how we live together as a community of faith. Drawing from 1 Corinthians 12, we explore the sacred anatomy of the church, not as an organization built on titles and status, but as a living, breathing organism held together by the grace of God. The apostle Paul wrote to a church fractured by competition and self-promotion, and his words land just as powerfully in our world today. We are challenged to recognize two dangerous diseases that can quietly destroy a community: the anatomy of inferiority, the lie that our gifts do not matter, and the anatomy of superiority, the arrogance that dismisses the value of others. Together, we discover that God did not suggest unity as a nice idea. Paul declares it as a present, grounded reality. Unity is not pie in the sky when we die, it is something sound on the ground while we are still around. If we have ever wondered whether we truly belong or whether our contribution matters, this message speaks directly to that ache.
