August 10 Worship

This week we delve into the story of Jesus healing a man with an unclean spirit in Mark's Gospel. This account challenges us to see beyond the surface and recognize the inherent dignity in all people, even those society has cast aside. We're reminded that unclean spirits—whether they manifest as hatred, jealousy, or prejudice—can afflict anyone, anywhere. Yet, just as Jesus saw the man's true worth, we're called to see the image of God (imago Dei) in everyone we encounter. This message urges us to question: When others meet us, do they recognize God's presence? Are we readily identified as bearers of justice and compassion? As we reflect on this, let's consider how we can bring hope and healing to the marginalized in our own communities, embodying Christ's transformative love in a world that often prefers to keep the 'difficult cases' out of sight and mind.
