June 28 Worship

This message takes us aboard a storm-tossed boat with the disciples in Mark chapter 4, where we discover a timeless truth about faith versus fear. While waves crashed and water filled their vessel, Jesus slept peacefully, demonstrating complete trust in the Father's protection. When the disciples panicked, Jesus asked them a question that echoes through the centuries to us today: Why are you afraid? The sermon challenges us to examine our own responses to life's storms—those unexpected burdens, barriers, and roadblocks that make us question our purpose or even our faith. We're reminded that we already possess every tool we need for this journey: the Word of God at our fingertips, the power of our baptism, the nourishment of Holy Communion, and the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. The Pentecost season is described as our season, a time to turn up our spiritual awareness and allow the Spirit to guide us through every challenge. Perhaps most compelling is the reminder that God isn't asking for perfection, only faithfulness. We're called to be living stones built into a spiritual house, a royal priesthood chosen to declare His praises. The question isn't whether storms will come, but whether we'll remember who is in the boat with us when they do.
